Joyful Expectation, a women's Advent retreat for all 18 and older, will be offered Dec. 14-15 at Eagle's Wings Retreat Center in Burnet. During the busy holiday season, this overnight retreat includes talks by Megan Copeland and music to help participants rediscover the joy of waiting during the Advent season. St. Mary Parish in Temple will host an Advent Mission and Reconciliation Retreat, themed “Preparing the Manger of Our Hearts,” December 14 from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. This all-day gathering begins with the Liturgy of the Hours and Mass in the church, followed by breakfast, an inspiring talk, a panel discussion, and lunch at the school gym. Then afternoon session in the church commences at 1 p.m. with the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, Penance Service, Sacrament of Reconciliation, and Adoration concluding with Vespers, Benediction, and Mass. Free meals and babysitting (9 a.m. - noon) will be provided (ages 1 & up).
